CGST Inspector Arrested by CBI for Taking Rs 10 Lakh Bribe
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested an inspector posted at the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) in Jaipur and two middlemen for taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh. The central agency listed the accused as Ankit Aswal, an inspector currently serving as preventive officer (PO) CGST, and two middlemen, Sonu and Ashok.
The agency said that a case was registered based on a complaint against the CGST inspector and others for allegedly demanding a bribe to resolve a pending matter with CGST’s Jaipur branch.
The CBI said that they laid a trap and caught the middlemen while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh on behalf of the inspector. The arrested accused will be produced before the special CBI court in Jodhpur.
