Income Tax Department Enhances Black Money Surveillance with 24/7 Control Room Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections.
To monitor potential illicit financial activities during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Income Tax Department has established a control room in Bhopal, along with dedicated contact numbers for the public to report any suspicious financial transactions.
Furthermore, the department has deployed 53 Quick Response Teams throughout Madhya Pradesh, ensuring coverage in every district. A workforce of 200 officers has been assigned across the region to oversee the prevention of black money usage and the surveillance of dubious cash and bullion transactions.
The control room will operate around the clock, encouraging citizens to report instances of black money, hawala transactions, cash dealings, and bullion movements directly to the Income Tax Department, according to an official announcement.
For public convenience, a toll-free number (1800-2337836) and a mobile number (9406718767) have been made available for reporting any questionable financial activities linked to the election.
Additionally, five Air Intelligence Units have been instituted within the state to scrutinize cash and bullion flow at airports.
Both the Quick Response Teams and the Air Intelligence Units will maintain continuous operations throughout the state.
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled for polls in four stages on April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13, with the Model Code of Conduct having been in effect since March 16.
