Maruti Suzuki Responds to GST authority show cause notice, Faces Additional Import Violation Scrutiny.
In its regulatory filings, the company disclosed that it received a show cause notice (SCN) for the fiscal year April 2019 to March 2020 due to discrepancies in tax return reconciliations. The Rajasthan GST department has cited a discrepancy amounting to INR 3.1 lakh. The company intends to respond to the SCN accordingly.
Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki was issued a notice on March 14, 2024, by the Commissioner of Customs at Nhava Sheva. This notice concerns purported violations in the categorization of imported goods and demands a payment of INR 27.87 lakh to cover the tax discrepancies, fines, and penalties.
